As an Executive Vice President of Business Affairs for NBC Universal Television, Beth negotiates deals with all of the major production studios for shows including "West Wing," "Medium," "ER," "Monk," "Battlestar Galactica," "Scrubs," "Fear Factor," "The Apprentice," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," to name a few.
Beth speaks around town on entertainment issues in addition to her annual course at UCLA Extension, "Business Affairs for Television." She also contributes to an entertainment course at USC Annenberg School for Communication.
As a young lawyer, Beth practiced commercial real estate law in New York City, at a 250-attorney law firm. Inspired by Beryl Markham's "West with the Night," she made a radical decision: She quit her job to travel the world.
Beth spent a full year backpacking solo in New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Singapore, India, England, Wales, and Scotland. Battling leeches, tigers and would-be lotharios made a career change seem like child's play. On her return Beth moved to Los Angeles to join the entertainment industry.
Ten years later, she was practicing business affairs at NBC, but found meeting her mate a challenge. Like many women, Beth was mortified at the thought of posting an ad and spent years as an online dating voyeur. Having analyzed hundreds of ads by the time she posted her own ad at age 40, Beth created an honest and revealing statement about herself, and the idea for the list, ABOUT THE ADS, was born. She met with 5 men; the fifth is now her husband, Warren. |
